County Band
Welcome to thedowntowncountyband.com!
The Downtown County Band is Wes Petzinger, on acoustic guitar
and vocals, Keith Clifton on open back banjo and vocals, Dan Atkins on
mandolin and vocals, Sam McWilliams on fiddle, and John Atha on upright
bass fiddle. Wes and Keith originate from Owen County, Kentucky. Dan,
Sam, and John come from neighboring Franklin County. These five have
built their grouping out of a shared appreciation for acoustic roots
music. The DCB play music from the turn of the 20th century. They
celebrate the old Jug Band music born out of the Ohio and Mississippi
River ways of life, as well as blues from The South. The County Band is
no stranger to Appalachian Gospel, Mountain, or Old Timey Music. They
play an ecletic blend of folk roots music styles, with their own
contemporary arrangements.
